Rempel Driver Mentor Program
To ensure customer satisfaction,
we initiated the Rempel Driver Mentor Program in 1993 for drivers,
plant
personnel
and customer service representatives. We keep our staff informed
and up-to-date about Rempel products, services and environmental
initiatives to provide unfaltering service and expertise on-site
as well as off-site. The Rempel Driver Mentor Program helps make
Rempel #1 in customer service in the Lower Mainland and Fraser
Valley.
At Rempel, we work as a team, share ideas and nurture
individual strengths. We work together to provide our customers with
the best
possible service while building our community.

Congratulations to Derek Bird!
2009 Suggestion of the Year Award

Derek Bird started with Rempel Bros. Concrete as a mixer driver
July 1979. During 1983 he was appointed to a Plant Supervisor
position at the Coquitlam Plant. He also worked for several months as
a Plant Supervisor at the North Vancouver and Langley plants in the
mid eighties as well. In the mid eighties Derek also spent two years as
a Driver Trainer & Area Supervisor.
Derek’s “Suggestion of the Year” was the installation of timers on the
boilers to shut them off when not in use. Previously we continually
heated the water in our boilers 24 hours a day during the winter for
addition of hot water into our concrete. Derek saw an opportunity for
the company to save money by having a timer shut off the boilers
overnight when hot water was not needed for concrete production.
The timers would then turn the boilers on at 5:00 am in the morning so
that hot water was available for the first batched load in the morning.
Because of Derek’s idea we have installed timers on all our boilers at
the plants and this will lead to savings in natural gas costs. In our
present economic environment all cost reductions allow us to be more
competitive in our concrete pricing.
Derek currently is Plant Supervisor at our Coquitlam Plant.
Rewards and recognition continue to be a key part
of our values system at Rempel Bros. Concrete Ltd. and Challenge
Concrete Pumping, a division of Rempel Bros. Concrete.
